What is WALKATOP?

WALKATOP is an urban hiking adventure along trails that circle Mount Washington. Maps and information stations will be available to guide you through your choice of trails.  See descriptions here.  See some pictures here.

Where is registration and what is the time?

Registration is in the parking lot on Grandview Avenue across from the Coal Hill Saloon and the Duquesne Incline from 8AM until noon. Click here for map.

How much does it cost?

Tickets are available on Showclix and early-bird tickets are $15 (ends 8/30). Advance tickets are $20 (8/31 – 9/15) and day-of (at check-in) is $25.

What does it benefit?

The proceeds will benefit the Thomas Brown Alton Foundation which is dedicated to suicide prevention by helping those in need toward improved mental health. thomasaltonfoundation.org

What about footwear? Should I wear hiking boots?

Hiking boots or sturdy tennis shoes will suffice.

Will there be food?

Food is not available at the registration site but there are several restaurants in the Grandview Ave. business district and also Shiloh Street and Bigham Street. Water stations will be set up along the trails.

Can young children attend?

Yes, children age 10 and under are welcome free of charge.  There is a choice of trails to fit your family’s needs.

Is it stroller-friendly? 

The hiking trails wind through hilly terrain on some uneven surfaces. We have included a sidewalk route to provide an alternative to the hiking trails.

What if it rains? 

We do not have a rain date; we will be there on Sept. 16th rain or shine and are hoping for good hiking weather!
